So you tried out an app and now want to cancel your subscription for it before you forget and get charged for eternity? This process can’t be handled by the app’s developer, so reaching out to individual app developers for support won’t help very much. Instead, Apple has made it easy for users to maintain control over their subscriptions directly from their iPhone’s. That is, as long as you know the right steps to follow.
Follow these steps outlined below to cancel any of your existing App Store subscriptions.
Step 1: Find and Tap your “Settings” Icon.
Your “Settings” icon is one of several native apps that is included by default with every iPhone. It’s also one of a few apps on your iPhone that cannot be removed. The below graphic shows you what the “Settings” Icon looks like:
With your “Settings” interface open, proceed with Step 2 below:
Step 2: Scroll Down and Tap “iTunes & App Store”.

With your “iTunes & App Store” interface open, proceed with Step 3 below:
Step 3: Tap on your “Apple ID”.
Note that your Apple ID is the email address used to sign up for your Apple ID, which is then used to sign into various Apple products. The below graphic shows you an example of an Apple ID within the “iTunes & App Store” interface of your iPhone’s settings:
Upon tapping your “Apple ID”, proceed with Step 4 below:
Step 4: Tap “View Apple ID”.
The below graphic shows you an example pop up with the “View Apple ID” option:
Note that you will be prompted to enter your Apple ID and password upon tapping “View Apple ID” in the previous step. If you already have Face ID enabled, you can breeze through this step even faster.
With your “Apple ID” related details interface open, proceed with Step 5 below:
Step 5: Tap “Subscriptions”.

Upon tapping on “Subscriptions”, you’ll be presented with a list of your active App Store subscriptions. Proceed to Step 6 below to continue with the process of canceling your app store subscription:
Step 6: Tap on the Subscription you’d like to Cancel.

Upon tapping the subscription you’d like to cancel, you’ll be presented with an interface listing all details of your subscription for that app.
With this interface open, proceed to the last step below to cancel your subscription:
Step 7: Tap “Cancel Subscription” and “Confirm”.
The below graphic shows an example of the button you’ll need to tap to cancel your subscription for a given app. Note that you’ll receive a pop up to confirm your cancellation. You’ll need to tap “Confirm” to complete this action and officially cancel your subscription to that app:
